Do you notice that your products often remain in the rack? This is a pity, because it is the ideal way to get more out of an appointment and to increase the income in your salon. Along this way we give you some tips on how to sell more products.

1. Explain

2. Amaze with the result

3. Display attractively

4. Ask it at the checkout

5. Promote on social media

6. Webshop

7. Discount

1. Explain

Do you use a special shampoo or care for a customer? Talk about it. Tell your customers what you are doing, with what product and why they need it. This is the first step to arouse interest in the product. Show them while also holding the bottle and then put it in front of them so that they always come into contact with it.

2. Amaze with the result

After using the product, show the customer the result. Is their hair much softer? Does it give a nice shine? Does it give your client’s curls a boost? Put this in the spotlight and explain again exactly what the product has done. Also specify that it is easy for everyday use and that it makes styling the hair much easier.

3. Display attractively

Put your products in the spotlight! Make a nice corner and place your products in groups of 3. The line of products have to be placed from small to large or interchangeably, but certainly not from large to small (this would have a negative effect). You can possibly also place an extra block with featured products or products in the spotlight. These will undoubtedly attract attention.

Place some banners from the brands you work with in the salon. Use this to promote a specific product.

Packages are another boost for product sales. Firstly, you can sell more products in one fell swoop and also encourage customers to try different things. This will have a positive effect on further sales.

4. Ask it at the checkout

Your customer still doesn’t ask for that one product to buy? Imagine it at checkout, they may have forgotten it. If they still don’t bite, you can give a sample. This way they can give it a try at home and maybe make a purchase during the next appointment.

5. Promote on social media

Where better to promote something than via Facebook and Instagram? Do you have a new product? or do you offer a discount on certain products? Share it on one of these platforms. This way, the customer is immediately informed of the innovations in your salon.

You can also put a product in the spotlight by, for example, making a tutorial on how you can use a certain product. This is guaranteed to generate interest!

Go one step further? Send information about your products through your email marketing. The handy thing about this is that you can limit yourself to sending to specific target groups. For example, you can only send a discount on a particular wax to the male customers in your salon. You can easily do this through marketing automation platforms such as Mailchimp.

6. Webshop

Do you also want to sell your products in a different way? Create your own webshop and link it to your website. People who are looking for a certain product can also find their way to your salon this way, two birds with one stone!

Does setting up your own web shop scare you? No worries! Platforms such as Shopify make it extremely easy to offer your products online.

7. Discount

Finally, you can also give a discount on the products. There may not always be a certain reason  to grant a discount, but that way the customer will purchase a product faster. So hopefully in the future they will want to buy more of this product, this time without a discount. The discount is thus an investment for the further sale of your range of products.

🤯 You can manage your products conveniently with the salon software from Optios. Fast in and out scanning and then carry out an analysis thanks to the handy reports. This way you can quickly see which products work and which ones you might want to put aside.
